KL Report

SRINAGAR

The relatives of a patient who died at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar staged a protest on Monday, alleging medical negligence.

The protestors said that the doctors at SMHS did not treat the patient well and they fled from the ward soon after the death of the patient.

“One Mairajudin Khan, resident of Dalipora Kawdara Srinagar was admitted into the hospital after he felt unconscious at home. The doctors did not take pains and after observing him casually discharged from the hospital. As the patient reached home, he felt unconscious again. We shifted him to hospital again where doctors again observed him casually,” one of the protestors, Shabir Ahmed said.

The protestors while holding a particular doctor responsible for the death of the said patient said that the particular doctor and his team fled from the hospital after the death of the patient. They demanded stern action against the said doctor adding that the patient was the father of three unmarried daughters.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Omar and Medical Superintendent SMHS Dr Nazir Choudhri refused to comment on the issue while Principal Medical College Srinagar, Dr Rafiq Pampori said that he has initiated an inquiry in this regard and the report will come within next days.

The protestors dispersed from the premises of the hospital only after top police officials assured them that matter would be inquired thoroughly. (CNS)
