SRINAGAR: Mother of senior journalist and NDTV Bureau Chief Nazir Masoodi passed away at SKIMS after a brief illness on Friday evening.
A close family source told Kashmir Life that she had developed symptoms and tested positive for the Coronavirus. She was admitted to SKIMS Soura from last many days.
She was kept on ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward of SKIMS, where she breathed his last Friday night.
She will be laid to rest at her ancestral graveyard in Kupwara.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the sad demise.
In a tweet, she wrote: “Heartfelt condolences to Nazir Masoodi & family on the passing away of his mother today. Losing a parent is never easy & hope god gives him strength. Allah Ta’aala maghfirat farmayain.”

National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah also expressed deep sorrow over the demise and prayed for the deceased and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
“Very sorry to hear about the tragic demise of @nazir_masoodi ’s mother. May Allah grant her place in Jannat & may Nazir & the rest of her family find strength at this difficult time,” Omar tweeted.
