Cold Wave Continues In Kashmir, Gulmarg Freezes At Minus 12

SRINAGAR: Cold wave conditions continued in the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday as minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point.

The Metrological department Kashmir has forecast mainly dry weather during the next four days.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley where minimum temperature was minus 12.0 degrees.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 2.0 degrees Celsius while Qazigund in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.4 degree Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 7.7 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 8.3 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 2.0 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 5.7 degrees Celsius, Katra 5.7, Batote minus 0.4, Banihal recorded minus 1.0 and Bhaderwah recorded minus 2.1 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures.
