Srinagar: The joint team of Wildlife Department and police Saturday said they have arrested one person and recovered a number of leopard and other forest animal hides and body parts from his possession in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.
The arrested person has been identified as Gul Mohammadd Ganie, son of Abdul Rehman Ganie of Shirpora Anantnag.
During the raid, the officials have recovered forest animal parts including eight leopard hides, four musk deer pods and 38 bear gallbladders, including the gallbladders that seems to be about eight years old.
Rouf Zargar Wildlife Warden Anantnag has informed a local wire agency, KNO, that eight leopard hides, four musk dear pods and 38 bear gallbladders were recovered.
He said that arrested person was on raddar and evaded arrest several times.
He said that during preliminary investigation arrested person has admitted that he has got these skins from Kishtwar.
However, the real story will come to the fore after proper investigation, he added.
