“Yell for Peace” – Young Life

SHEFAN JAHAN

A yearning yell for Peace……….
Came all, and in unison we prayed
Our nimble hands together clasped
We are together yoked to the knot of fate
And, ‘Life’ has long since got derailed.
Lo! Here descends the Angel……..
Amidst the blood and fire and ruin
Wolf in the flock lives in sheepskin
Prepare the feast, bring the Angel in
Sing the hymns, let the music fill in
But, the
Shadow of God,
Fallen and Torn………
I promise to nail it,
Lest the Angel flees!
Hearken the sobs of the crying women
The demon secretly remains hidden
Cries of the dimpled innocent children
Cruel chaos and stubborn confusion
O’ Guardian Angel please hasten!
The roaring and the raging Death
Turns ashen the blossoms in the wreath
Barking hounds are gasping for breath
I hear the strange sounds of crackling
Rush! The fierce flames are fast clinging
To the
Shadow of God,
Fallen and Torn………
I promise to nail it,
Lest the Angel flees!
In the open, wailing wind blows furtively
Jaded, the
Moon empties the moonlight apologetically
Sighs creep in to adorn it stealthily
The haze and the dust settle discreetly
Who is watching us thus so invisibly?
Men play well the game of blames
They fan the bigoted impassioned flames
Sure, firefighters too lose their brains
Hush! Decades’ old unresolved domains
Xenophobes poisoning peoples’ veins
There, the
Shadow of God
Fallen and torn…….
I promise to nail it,
Lest the Angel flees!
Years ago time stopped in the clock
No sweet talk will end the deadlock
Satan broke the lock and ran amok
Crimson blood and bodies chock-a-block
Blinded of sight, deafened by the shock
The gardener cried,
“Death must wear its jewels anon.
Open the gates of the graveyard
Whose name is it tonight?”
Oh! How frightening is Death’s delight!
All is charred and crumbled at the site
But, the burning embers set his eyes alight
In the dark, he poured his grief forthright
He saw, the
Shadow of God
Fallen and torn…….
I promise to nail it,
Lest the Angel flees!
Warm tears gushed down his stony face
Stories of grief are but commonplace
Talking Peace seems to be out of place
Dark encompasses each and every space
Human beings have lost their grace.
Appalling surprises difficult to handle
He could save only a few burnt books
And, one of a pair of a daughter’s sandal
Is he creating a castle out of a sand-hill?
The gardener holds a flickering candle
Deep in his heart knowing the gamble
Caught! Over-head complexities dangle
But, he believes love will dis-entangle.
Heavens’! The
Shadow of God
Fallen and torn…….
I promise to nail it,
Lest the Angel flees!
The silhouettes stir, mountains murmur
The old woman lost the only bread-earner
Passions ignite!
But she remains a silent observer
Her resolve to fight finds a faint fervor
She sits by the man who’s a tomb engraver
Mother!
My Pheran is torn and drenched
Etched Thoughts, my soul is scratched
All the doors are shut and latched
Silence is a Prison sealed with grief inchoate
Though all the violence I do abominate!
Shower of bombs, bullets and pellets
Amidst the noisy din
Unable to speak, my breath is thin
Go! Save your soul, but wipe my cheek
Day of resurrection, justice we will seek
Bloodied hands and dust in my fists
Dear Gardener,
“O’ Tear open my heart
Heaven is here!
No, Heaven isn’t here!”
Lo and Behold!
Shadow of God
Fallen and torn…….
I promise to nail it
But the Angel Flees, the Angel Flees………The Angel Fled!!!!!
