Clashes erupt after forces lay siege to Pulwama village

Srinagar

Clashes broke out between the government forces and people in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched by government forces on wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Reports said that following specific inputs about the presence of militants, a joint team of government forces had launched an operation in Bongam area of Karimabad village. Soon after the searches were launched, a group of youth assembled near the site and pelted stones of government forces triggering clashes.

Forces in retaliation fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protestors. However, the CASO was later called off and there was no further incident reported.
