Seven persons injured in Mendhar road mishap

Seven passengers were injured after the vehicle in which they were travelling in met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district this afternoon.

Reports said that the passenger van bearing registration number JK-02AW 8018 skidded off the road near lower Kotia while on way to upper Kotia in the district. The vehicle after turning turtle rolled down into a 100/120 metres gorge, resulting in injuries to seven persons.

The injured persons have been identified as Mohammad Kafeel, son of Sayeed Mohammad (26), Zulfkar Ahmad son of Dilpazir (23), Abrar Ahmed son of Dilpazir (13), Mohammad Ishtiyaque son of Mohammad Basharat (30), Mohammad Zafar son of Mohammad Azeem (22) residents of Soyian Kotian while two others Farzana Kounser wife of Ishtikhar Ahmed (30) and Rubina Kounser daughter of Mohammad Shafi (7) belong to Sandiote Balakote.

Soon after the accident, driver of the vehicle Maskeen Hussain fled from the spot, reports said.
Meanwhile, Block Medical Officer Mendhar, Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Khan while talking to GNS said that all the injured are stable and are receiving treatment at Government Sub-district hospital Mendhar. (GNS)
