Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan Tuesday took a comprehensive review of various developmental projects being executed under core sectors in Budgam District at a high level meeting of officers of district administration and engineers from various engineering wings at New Conference Hall Budgam.
At the outset, Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad gave brief account of developmental activities being carried out in the District, an official spokesperson said this evening.
He informed that against an approved allocation of Rs 168.69 crore under District Plan for the year 2016-2017, an amount of Rs 24.42 crore has been made available against which an amount of Rs17.78 crore stands expended up to August, 2016.
The meeting was informed that under R&B Sector, 33.8 KM roads have been macadamized against the target of 120.75 KM.
The meeting was informed that out of the total 18 bridges taken up under state sector for 2016-17 against an estimated cost of Rs 35.28 crore, work on 7 bridges have been completed, while as work on 11 bridges is going-on and is expected to be completed by the end of current fiscal.
Under PMGSY, as many as 16 projects are under execution, the meeting was informed.
The meeting was informed that work on 12 schemes would be completed during the current fiscal, of which 2 have been executed.
Reviewing the latest status of availability of essential commodities in the district, the Divisional Commissioner expressed satisfaction with regard to the availability and distribution of ration, LPG, petrol and diesel.
He directed the concerned for ensuring adequate stock and distribution of sugar to the consumers in view of Eid. He also directed the banking authorities for ensuring hassle-free banking services to the people for their convenience.
Directing the ICDS authorities for expediting the tendering process for procurement of quality and standard nutrition items, the Divisional Commissioner also called for timely completion of works being executed under Irrigation & Flood Control department.
The Divisional Commissioner reviewed the functioning of the forests, Youth Services and Sports and Horticulture departments.
He directed the officers of Forests Department for ensuring constant vigil so that no one takes advantage of the present situation and indulges in smuggling or felling of green trees.
He asked the Youth and Sports Department for organizing the sports activities for tapping the sports potential of youth. He also directed the concerned for making necessary arrangements with regard to harvesting activities of apple and pear fruits.
Appreciating the efforts made for providing services to the people by the Health, PHE, PDD, Urban Development and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department during the prevailing situation, the Divisional Commissioner stressed upon the Engineering departments to redouble their efforts for achieving the targets and to formulate a contingency plan for works to be executed in double shifts.
Directing the Chief Education Officer, Budgam for ensuring attendance of teachers and students in the schools, the Divisional Commissioner asked to stop the salary of employees who remain absent from their duties.
He also instructed the Deputy Commissioner to monitor the same and ensure punctuality of the employees in their respective offices.
Later, various deputations from different areas and members of civil society met the Divisional Commissioner apprised him about their developmental needs.
He gave a patient hearing to all of them and assured that their genuine needs would be addressed.
