Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice, Abdul Haq Monday stressed on the people of the state to avail benefits of various developmental schemes for employment generation and over all development of the state.
The Minister said this after distributing cheques to 81 beneficiaries of IAY scheme, an official spokesperson said this evening.
He said housing for the poor is a priority area for the state Government and the government intends to provide quality housing for all.
Calling for widespread publicity of the various flagship programs and schemes, Abdul Haq said the educated youth of the state should create awareness among common masses and also avail benefit under these schemes to reduce unemployment in the state.
The Minister directed the officials to make use of the flagship programs of Rural Development to generate employment and creation of durable assets in rural areas of the state.
Earlier, Haq distributed cheques worth Rs 38 lacs among 81 beneficiaries of IAY.
Under Swachh Bharat Mission, the Minister also distributed Rs 1.7 crore among 893 beneficiaries of the district so that the beneficiaries could construct Individual Household Latrines in their houses.
He said the Rural Development Department plays an important role in the overall development of the state as majority of the people live in rural areas.
He said the department is aiming to provide 20 lakh man-days of work during the current fiscal while the department has registered 86168 job card holders in the district.
The Minister said the dream of the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti about Rural Development Department will come true only when all the flagship programs of the department are implemented in letter and spirit and all the stakeholders work in good spirit with dedication, cooperation and honesty.
Abdul Haq asked the officers to work tirelessly on ground so that the schemes are implemented in letter and spirit on ground and right people are benefitted by these schemes.
Later Minister also reviewed the functioning of the department in the district besides reviewing the progress of various ongoing projects in the state.
