Police have solved the murder mystery of a teenager who was found dead in Mattan area, a police statement said on Friday.
The statement said that the cousin of the deceased was involved in the murder and he has been shifted to Juvenile home, Srinagar.
Giving details, police said that on 17th of December, Mattan Police recovered a body of a teenager Rouf Naikoo son of Shafi Nikoo resident of Nagam Kokernag. The deceased was putting up with his aunt at Matipore Mattan.
Police registered a case FIR number 105/14 under section 302 and investigation was taken up. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to his next of kin for last rites. Special teams were formed to explore all possible angles of the murder.
During the investigation several suspects were thoroughly questioned and it surfaced that on the fateful day, in the afternoon the deceased had left his aunt’s house along with his cousin 14 years old Baid Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Paddar resident of Matipore.
“While playing the two had an altercation and Baid hit Rouf with a stone on head and he fell down on ground over another rock resulting in his on spot death,” police said adding “sensing trouble Baid left the body in a nearby nursery and left the spot and returned home alone.”
“Baid has been arrested and has been shifted to Juvenile home in Srinagar,” police said.
