BJP’s No to ‘Grand Alliance’, says New Govt in Few Days

With senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad’s floating the idea of a “grand alliance” between Peoples Democratic Party, National Conference and his party, to form the next government in the State, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Saturday come down heavily to the idea and said that Azad’s dream to be part of government ‘will not come true’.

The party also said that it will form the next government within few days and will not allow grand alliance between PDP, NC and Congress.

“Azad’s dream to be a part of government will not come true. Without BJP it is not possible to form government in Jammu and Kashmir. We have received the letter from the state governor about the formation of government. There will be our government within few days. We are finalizing the modalities and the new government will start functioning very shortly,” BJP’s Member Parliament and JK affairs in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna told KNS over phone from New Delhi.

Another BJP leader who took part in the PM’s rally at Srinagar said from New Delhi that the party will definitely form the government in JK.

“We are in touch with many people and are exploring the possibilities of forging a tie up so that a stable government is put in place,” he said and added, “I am sure that within few days there will be formal announcement about new government.”

A senior BJP leader, wishing not to be named, said though the party is exploring all options to ensure a proper government is put in place in JK.

“See some deliberations were held between NC and BJP but due to the rift between two parties the consensus could not mature. Now party is exploring things with PDP,” he claimed.

He said that the ball is now in the PDP’s court and BJP will wait for a final call from them.

“There is already some headway and some big developments have been take place in this regard,” he said.

Meanwhile, sources said that BJP leadership in New Delhi has decided not to touch the issue of Article 370 at this crucial juncture. “We have been directed to ignore this issue for a time being,” a senior state BJP leader said.

Sources said that BJP President Amit Shah after hectic deliberations over government formation in JK with Prime Minister Narendera Modi and senior party leaders in New Delhi has authorized Ram Madhav to comment over the issue and has directed BJP leaders not to comment without the permission of the Party headquarter.
