Economist Dr Drabu Is Now Lawmaker

After leading and trailing, it is official that noted economist Dr Haseeb A Drabu has registered his maiden win from Pulwama’s Rajpora constituency.

Dr Drabu was pitted against South Kashmir’s traditional politicians in Rajpora including his former party man Syed Bashir Ahmad, NC’s Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Mir. As the results were declared, Dr Drabu got 17947 votes while his nearest rival, NC’s Mir got 13795.

After he wore many hats, at 53, professional economist Dr Drabu is all set to make an entry into state assembly.

Pertinently Dr Drabu was unceremoniously sacked in August 2010 as CEO and chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd by Omar led coalition government. He had to live in ‘exile’ in Mumbai where he chaired and was on board of governors in atleast 15 MNC’s.
