Director SKIMS, others meet Lt Governor

Prof  B S Sahay, Director IIM, Jammu, met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan Jammu on Monday.

The Lt Governor complimented Prof Sahay for encouraging research and innovation at IIM Jammu and urged him to maintain high standards in quality education and imparting well-integrated management practices for a productive career of the students.

A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Jat Sabha also called on Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan.

The delegation headed by its President, Manjit Singh, former Minister, comprised of Sukhnandan Choudhary, former Minister, ex-MLCs- Surinder Choudhary and Vikram Randhawa, submitted a memorandum of demands to the Lt Governor pertaining to reservation for Jat community under OBC category and modification in reservation criteria for those living along the International borders.

The Lt Governor assured the delegation that all their genuine demands will be taken up for examination and urged them to continue their sustained endeavours for promoting public welfare.

M M Joshi, Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, J&K, also met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu.

Joshi briefed the Lt Governor about the ongoing programmes and future plans of the organisation to strengthen and popularise the Scouts and Guides movement in J&K.

Lt Governor stressed the high importance of institution like Scouts and Guides for the holistic development of children and assured all possible support to the Scouts and Guides movement.

Dr A G Ahangar, Director, SKIMS, Srinagar also met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu.

Dr Ahangar briefed the Lt. Governor about the functioning of the SKIMS and various new initiatives taken for improving the overall health and medical education sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lt Governor underlined the importance of the health sector and urged Dr Ahangar to pay utmost attention to further improve the facilities in SKIMS.
