Mayor JMC, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and others meet Lt Governor

Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation, met the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan Jammu on Saturday.

Gupta apprised the Lt Governor about the functioning and the steps initiated for efficient delivery of public services by the JMC, issues pertaining to effective Solid Waste Management and installation of street lights.

While briefing about the progress achieved on the action plan to make Jammu clean and beautiful, the Mayor informed the Lt Governor that as on date, the EESL has installed 2500 street lights in Jammu City under National Street Light Programme. For installation of High Mast Lights, around 500 spots have been identified and procurement process for additional machinery required for collection and transportation of solid waste has been initiated after proper gap analysis, he added.

The Lt Governor emphasized the high importance for ensuring round the clock provision of basic civic amenities to the people and laid stress on ensuring planned constructions in the city.

Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament, also met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu.

Sharma shared with the Lt Governor his concerns regarding the damages to the crops across the agricultural belt of Jammu due to untimely rains and hail storms after conducting a tour of the affected areas and taking the first hand assessment of situation yesterday.

He apprised the Lt Governor about the immediate need of conducting the field assessment of damages to crops so that immediate succor can be provided to the affected population.

The Lt Governor assured Sharma that the administration will take every possible step to mitigate the problems of all those affected by the untimely rains. He further urged Sh. Sharma to continue his endeavors for the growth and advancement of the public welfare.

Rajiv Jasrotia, former Minister, also called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan and raised several important matters of public interest and demands related to the welfare of the people.

The Lt Governor urged  Jasrotia to continue working vigorously for the advancement of the people’s welfare.

Meanwhile, Daljit Singh Chib, former Vice Chairman, Advisory Board for Development of Kissans and Rashpaul Verma, former Vice Chairman, Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of OBC’s also called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu.

The former VCs apprised the Lt Governor about the issues pertaining to the speedy assessment and compensation to the farmers for the damage of crops due to untimely rains, construction of Procurement Mandis at different districts for the benefits of farmers, extension of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna and procurement of Basmati Rice on Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The Lt. Governor interacted with the former VCs and assured that all the genuine issues projected by them will be taken up for examination and early redressal.

The delegation led by Rajinder Sharma, Chairman, House Committee comprising of its members- Sh. Parmod Kapai, Gourav Chopra and Vijay Choudhary apprised the Lt Governor about the range of issues related to the framing of Building Schemes and Plans for Jammu City under the overall ambit of Jammu Master Plan 2032 for Built-Up and Non-Built Up areas.

The Lt Governor while interacting with the members of the delegation assured that all the issues raised by them will be taken up for examination.

A delegation of Laghu Udhyog Bharti, also called on Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu.

The delegation led by its President Rajinder Gupta apprised the Lt Governor about the present industrial scenario of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and issues being faced by the existing industry particularly in the marketing of finished products to the Government departments/agencies.

The delegation also highlighted various issues related to purchases through GeM portal by Government departments and incentive packages for existing as well as new industries and a host of other issues plaguing the industrial sector.

The Lt Governor assured that all the genuine demands and issues put forth by the delegation would be looked into and redressed at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Thakur Puran Singh, former Member J&K Legislative Assembly, also called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu.

Singh apprised the Lt Governor about various developmental issues pertaining to Billawar area including up-gradation of Health care facilities at Billawar Sub-District Hospital and compensation to farmers for the damaged crops due to untimely rains, besides other issues of public importance.

The Lt Governor urged Singh to continue his endeavours towards promoting public welfare.

The delegation led by its President, Rajiv Mahajan and other members including Karnail Chand,  Pritam Sharma and Sh. Parshotam Sharma apprised the Lt Governor about the need for effective maintenance of temples and shrines across J&K and devising some kind of institutional mechanism for the purpose.

The Lt Governor assured the delegation that all their genuine demands would be looked into for examination and redressal.
