60 students undergo skiing course in Gulmarg

Srinagar

Sixty students from government and private schools today completed skiing course here in Gulmarg.

The Skiing Training Course was organised by The Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS). The group comprising of 40 students of Government College of Physical Education, Ganderbal and the remaining 20 students from District Baramulla participated in the course.

The Director General of the Department of Youth Services & Sports has appreciated the field staff of the Department for taking keen interest in tapping, channelizing and polishing the sports talent in school children of the Jammu & Kashmir UT.

He also said that another two such courses one for boys and one exclusively for girls will begin soon.

Pertinently, the courses are being run under the technical supervision of Olympian Gul Mustafa Dev.

The closing ceremony of the training course was attended by senior officers of the Department of Youth Services and Sports and Jammu Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC).

Arman Ali of District Baramulla stood first in technique category while as Adil ul Rehman and Ahtisham Ahmad from the same district got 2nd and 3rd position respectively. In the same category Mehraj u Din Wagay, Afaq Akhtar and Omar Ashraf got Ist, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In another important category, Syed Qasim Bukhari, Aatib Nabi Bhat, Mehraj u Din Wagay from the Physical Education Ganderbal bagged Ist, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively while as from District Baramulla Numaan Fayaz, Muteeb Hussain, Tariq Maqbool bagged Ist, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in this category.
