Cold wave continues in Kashmir, Gulmarg freezes at minus 11.0

Cold wave conditions continued in the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh division on Wednesday as minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point.

Leh town in Ladakh division was the coldest place in the region where minimum temperature was minus 13.7 degrees Celsius while famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir at minus 11.0 was the coldest in the valley.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 4.4 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 6.5 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 6.9 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.3 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 2.6 degrees Celsius, Katra town 4.7, Batote minus 1.4, Bannihal minus 2.2 and Bhaderwah minus 2.0 as the minimum temperatures.
