Lok Adalat settles 269 cases, realizes Rs 341600 fine

Srinagar: A Lok Adalat was held today at District Court Complex Janipura, Jammu, under the Chairmanship of R.K Wattal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu in which six benches were constituted to settle the cases.

The spokesman said that bench number 1 comprising Nighat Sultana, Additional District Judge, Bank Cases Jammu, Y.P Kotwal, Ist Additional District & Sessions Judge Jammu and Naushad Ahmed Khan, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Jammu, dealt with Bank recovery cases while the bench number 2 comprising Surjeet Singh Bali, Sub Judge/Special Mobile Magistrate, Jammu and O.P Bhagat, Municipal Magistrate Jammu dealt with Municipal and Revenue Cases. Besides, the bench number 3 presided over by Preet Simran Kour, Munsiff, Jammu dealt with Excise Cases and Civil Cases and the bench number 4 comprising Pawan Sharma, Sub Judge Jammu and Rajni Bhagat, 3rd Additional Muniff, Jammu dealt with Cr. Compoundable & Petty Criminal Offences.

Likewise, bench number 5 comprising Sudesh Sharma, Sub Judge Electricity Magistrate, Jammu and Shabnam Sheikh, Forest Magistrate Jammu dealt with Electricity Water and Passenger Tax Cases while bench number 6  comprising of Dinesh Gupta, Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic Jammu and Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Mobile Magistrate Traffic, Jammu dealt with Traffic matters and petty offences.

A total number of 323 cases were taken up, of which, 269 cases were disposed off. The total amount settled in Bank Cases was Rs. 8250926/-   and amount realized as fine on the spot was Rs. 341600/- in the petty criminal matters.
