Before taking off, visiting Home Minister Amit Shah paid a visit to the family of slain Inspector Arshad Khan. He drove to their Balgarden residence Thursday morning, on the second day of the visit.
Khan, considered to be a brave officer by his colleagues and friends, was hit by a bullet on June 12. He was evacuated to the hospital and later flown to AIIMSA where he died on June 16. Six CRPF personnel and a militant were killed in the hit and run attack in KP Road attack.
Khan 37, is survived by two minors – one-year-old Daamin and four-year-old Uhbaan, wife and aged parents. He was heading the Sadder police station in Anantnag for last 20 days.
Shah, who continues to be the president of BJP, had flown to Srinagar on Wednesday or a two-day visit. In a series of meetings, Shah asked officials to ensure to incident-free Amarnath Yatra – starting on July 1, and better corruption-free governance.
Before his departure, Shah will meet some party delegations, civic body members and tourism professionals.
