Reports said that shooting of stones occurred at Panthiyal near Makarkoot area of Ramban district forced the authorities to suspend the movement of fresh traffic from Srinagar.

An official from the traffic department said that men and machinery have been pressed into the service to clear the debris and ensure the early reopening of the highway as soon as possible.

As the landslides are frequently occurring on the highway from last week due to the accumulation of snow, in a separate incident, four people escaped unhurt when their car was hit by a landslide at Anokhi falls in Ramban on the highway.
