CPI(M) leaders, activists protest against erratic power supply in Kulgam

SRINAGAR: January 30: Hundreds of CPI(M) activists assembled in Town Hall  Kulgam and took out a protest demonstration against erratic power supply. The rally marched through town and later presented a memorandum to Dy Commissioner, Kulgam.

While addressing the rally, Mohamad Afzal Parry senior CPI(M) leader said though the government claims there is an improvement in power supply, the reality is that the power situation is same as it was during the previous years. There seems no improvement. No power schedule is being followed on the ground and even metered areas are facing long and unscheduled power cuts, the party in a statement issued to press said.

Rural areas of this district are facing numerous problems on account of low voltage and the people are compelled to arrange alternative sources of illumination during the hours, they receive electricity.

The unending power crisis in the entire Kulgam district is a direct result of the insensitivity of the administration. The government has failed to create a buffer stock of electricity transformers at District level to address the situation surfaced due to damaged transformers.
