Nowhatta killing: Police registers cases of rash driving against CRPF, rioting against protesters

Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case of rash-driving against the CRPF for moving down a youth during protests in Nowhatta area of downtown Srinagar on Friday.

One of the three youth who were crushed by the speedy CRPF armoured vehicle when it drove wildly into a hostile crowd in Nowhatta on June 1, 2018.

A case of rioting has also been registered against the protesters.

Quoting SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray, GNS a news gatherer reported that the police has taken cognizance of the incident.

“We have lodged two cases with regard to the incidents and further investigations have been taken up,” SSP said.

The cases include— FIR No 18/2018 u/s 307,148,149,152,336,427 RPC and FIR No 19/2018 U/s 279 (rash driving), 337 RPC.

Kaiser Bhat, 21, was crushed down by the Central Reserve Police Force vehicle in the old city area of Nowhatta during protests on Friday.
