Srinagar
Urging BJP not to forget the humanitarian and political aspect of Jammu and Kashmir issue, Independent lawmaker Er Rasheed has said that muscular approach will not work and New Delhi must not leave Kashmiris on the mercy of security forces.
The spokesman in a statement said that in his half an hour meeting with BJP’s National General Secretary and in charge Jammu and Kashmir affairs Ram Madhav in Srinagar on Thursday, Er Rasheed reiterated AIP’s stand that party is open to meet any individual or organization to represent the ground situation and the real sentiments and aspirations of Kashmiris.
“Er Rasheed told Ram Madhav that BJP being in power in New Delhi should not run away from its responsibilities to find an everlasting resolution to Kashmir dispute,” the spokesman in a statement said.
He added that BJP should facilitate NC and PDP working together and forming a government in order to facilitate the regional parties in playing a larger constructive role for an everlasting peace in the entire subcontinent.
The spokesman said that Ram Madhav told Er Rasheed that BJP believes in over all-inclusive development and providing good governance to the people of state under governor’s rule till a conducive atmosphere is created for carrying the political process forward.
Er Rasheed added that BJP is duty bound to initiate a sincere and concrete dialogue process and also to ensure that rights, lives, honor, and dignity of Kashmiris are not bulldozed by justifying excessive use of force on them.
Er Rasheed reiterated that Kashmiris have always been supportive of a meaningful dialogue between India and Pakistan but taking them far-granted will be unrealistic and unacceptable and the dialogue has to be result oriented rather buying time.
“During the discussion, Er Rasheed sought the release of political prisoners languished in Tihar and other jails and said that the BJP government must take genuine confidence-building measures so that all the stakeholders can sit together and a meaningful dialogue could be initiated to resolve Kashmir issue,” the spokesman said.
