Clashes erupted in Hajin town of Bandipora district after government forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in the area.
Reports said that youth of the area took to the streets after a joint team of an army, Special Operational Group of Jammu and Kashmir and CRPF laid a siege in Bonkhan Mohalla.
The CASO was launched after receiving specific inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
