MLA Langate and President Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) Er Rasheed Sunday accused state government of “misusing state machinery” to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting a success.
Addressing a public meeting at Trehgam Kupwara today, an AIP statement quoting Rashid said, “not only that, security agencies have created a fear among people by harassing jail return militants and political activists but daily wagers of different departments, home guard personnel and SPOs are being threatened of dire consequences if they don’t participate in the public meet.”
Rashid said, “coalition partners are leaving no stone unturned in using district civil and police administration to persuade and pressurise a certain section of society to participate in Modi’s public meeting. Even transporters are being compelled to provide transport to ruling collation workers, who are even themselves very reluctant to participate.”
“Let common Kashmiris cutting across party lines tell Mufti and his colleagues that he should not have given Modi platform at an occasion when whole India is condemning Sangh Parivar for its radical Hindutva agenda. When film makers, writers and poets are returning their awards, one fails to understand what compels Mufti and his team to give a reception to Modi in Srinagar. However, the poor response of their own cardre should act as an eye opener for all blue eyed politicians and bureaucrats, who want to mislead Modi by getting a state sponsored gathering arranged for him, which will have by no way any participation from common Kashmiris,” Rashid said.
