The State Government Thursday approved development of Hubbi and Targain hamlets of district Rajouri as ‘Smart Tribal Villages’.
This was announced by the Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali while chairing a high-level meeting to discuss modalities for creation of Smart Tribal Villages under the convergence plan in Jammu today, an official statement said this evening.
In the first phase, Hubbi and Targain villages of district Rajouri would be taken up for holistic development under convergence plan.
Giving details about the physical and financial aspects of this ambitious project, the Minister said that the Tribal Affairs Department has released Rs 1 Crore each for Hubbi and Targain taken up in the first phase while other line departments would also chip-in with their share of funds for the holistic development of these villages.
The meeting was informed that the departments including RDD, PHE, Health, PWD, Agriculture, School Education, R&B, Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture, SC/ST Corporation and others have also prepared plans for facilitating development of these villages with requisite public utilities related to concerned departments.
“Effectiveness of various programmes would be enhanced by dovetailing available resources enabling development of hitherto unattended areas in more organized manner,” the Minister added.
The Minister impressed upon the officers to sensitize the people about the importance of their participation in achieving the goals set by the government for the good of their community.
He said Government’s priority is not only to extend basic amenities to hitherto neglected areas but also ensure their integrated development under convergence programme.
The meeting was attended by Director School Education Jammu, Director Health Services Jammu, Director Agriculture Jammu, Director CA&PD Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, MD SC/ST Corporation, SE PWD, SE PHE, CPO Rajouri, besides senior officers of RDD, Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture and district officers attended the meeting.
