Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir Thursday expressed its anger over the indiscriminate arrest spree unleashed by forces in Palhallan especially and other areas in Kashmir.
In a statement to KNS, JeI spokesperson said, “forces have arrested scores of youths including minors in Palhallan area of North Kashmir and other areas also and left the people in trouble and chaos.”
“Forces are deliberately spoiling the future of the youth and subjecting the arrestees to third degree torture during custody,” the spokesperson said. “Until this practice of persecution of innocent people is not given up and people are not allowed to raise their voice against these atrocities, peace can never prevail. The real democracy allows people to protest against the violation of their rights by the state machinery, the restriction of which is a blatant violation of human rights as well as democratic principles.”
“Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu & Kashmir urges the administration and police to stop terrorizing people and allow them to practice their democratic rights in a free atmosphere,” the spokesperson said.
Moreover, Jama’at demands unconditional release of all pro-freedom detunes and prisoners including the youths, the spokesperson added.
