Jammu and Kashmir Bank Officers Association Thursday said while interacting with a delegation of members of the association from districts of North Kashmir of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora said that the “duty of trade union leadership is to highlight the issues concerning the society in general and employer institution along with its membership in particular to bring them in focus so that concerned quarters like representative government of the date, regulators and owners pick up these issues for resolution”.
Adding that such issues span from policy making to posting of officials to suit local needs and comfort of its members, president JKBOA Riyaz Bhat emphasized that local leadership of district should play an active role in bringing focus the difficulties of people and members so that organization is strengthened at grass root level, JKBOA statement said this evening.
“He also warned the members about coming dangers on job security of Bank staff because a proposal for opening the window for mergers and acquisitions in banking industry is under active consideration of RBI the target of which is small private sector Banks like ours,” the statement said.
While commenting on the recent statement of union FM that Banks are at liberty to deal with defaulters he said, “then why not directions are passed to state owned banks to proceed with invocation of criminal provisions against the defaulters who have defrauded these banks along with the elements who have facilitated such frauds.”
The delegation assured the leadership to work for strengthening the organization in North Kashmir by having a local structure to build a future leadership.
