SRINAGAR
Jammu Kashmir National Front, a Hurriyat Conference (g) constituent, Friday held a protest demonstration at Narbal in Srinagar outskirts against the continuous and illegal detention of its chairperson and Hurriyat Conference (g), Nayeem Ahmad Khan.
Led by Riyaz Ahmad and Abdul Hamid, a National Front spokesperson said, “the activists raised pro-freedom slogans and shouted slogans against the police atrocities. The protesters holding placards, posters and banners condemned the arrest spree of pro-freedom leaders and workers in nook and corner of the valley. They raised slogans in favour of their incarcerated leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and said that RSS backed so called state government is trying to harass the pro-freedom camp by arresting and creating fabricated cases against the leaders and activists.”
“Praising the determination and steadfastness of their incarcerated chairperson, the protesters said that leaders like Nayeem Ahmad Khan cannot be compelled to change their political stance on Kashmir dispute. Nayeem Ahmad has spent most of the time of his life in jails however it has neither weakened his political stance nor will for freedom,” the statement said. “They strongly demanded the detention of their chairman and demanded an immediate release of Nayeem Ahmad Khan, who is undergoing illegal detention in Rajbagh police station since November 4. They also strongly condemned the continuous detention of Hurriyat Conference chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani. The protesters demanded an end to the on-going arrest spree and appealed the rights organisations like Amnesty International and Asia Watch to come forward to the rescue of oppressed Kashmiri people.”
“Kashmiri people are victims of the Indian tyranny and they are being deprived of their genuine rights,” the protesters said adding, “our leadership is even denied political space which has added in the suffocation of the disputed region.”
