Deodar seeds recovered in Handwara

Handwara police Tuesday arrested three smugglers and recovered Deodar seeds worth lacs of rupees in North Kashmir’s Handwara.


On a tip off regarding smuggling of forest produce particularly Deodar Seeds, Handwara police established a Naka during the previous night near Shanoo Muqam Handwara.


During the wee hours today at about 07:15, the Naka Party noticed the movement of a TATA Mobile Vehicle white colour bearing registration Number: JK05A-4407. The vehicle was stopped for search. During the search 27 bags of Deodar Seed loaded in the vehicle were recovered by the police party. The forest produce worth lacs of rupees was supposed to be transported to other parts of the valley.


The vehicle alongwith Deodar Seed was seized on the spot and three persons boarding the vehicle were also arrested. A case FIR NO: 17/2014 under section 379 RPC, 6.F.Act. has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation has been started.
