by Urvat IL Wuska

SRINAGAR: With no job policy in place, students Council SKUAST-K Shalimar on Saturday held a protest at press enclave against JKPSC for not recruiting any horticulture graduate in the department since 2007. The protesting students holding their degrees in the hands shouted slogans of justice, demanding to get eligible jobs in the Horticulture or in any other Department.

“We have completed our degrees facing many hardships as most of us are from poor backgrounds. If our demands are not addressed on a fast track basis, then our degree certificates are of no use. It is better to them then,” said Amir Bashir, President student council SKUAST-K.

He further said that for the last 13 years more than 1500 students are fighting to find their existence in the department. The candidates have approached many officials vis-à-vis their future in the horticulture field. “Our all pleas fell to deaf ears.”

Pertinent to mention, the bizarre reply these graduates get from the officials is, “you should not have opted for this course in the first place,” alleged another protesting student.

Mohsin Ahmed, a PhD scholar in horticulture stream said ‘’ J&K horticulture department has not engaged any scholar for any gazette or non-gazette posts. The Non-gazette posts are lying vacant in JKSSB as the department has not advertised any notification since last 13 Years’’.
