SRINAGAR: After Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan raised Kashmir issue again at UN General Assembly, promptly in exercising its right to reply, India hit back at Pakistan for raking up Jammu and Kashmir in the UN General Assembly, saying Islamabad peddled “another litany of vicious falsehood, personal attacks, warmongering,” reported The Tribune.
Imran Khan had earlier stated, “Pakistan has always called for a peaceful solution. To this end, India must rescind the measures it has instituted since August 5 in 2019, end its military siege and other gross humans rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir,” Indian Express quoting Pakistan Prime Minister.
As the high-level debate of the 75th session of UNGA concluded on Friday, India exercised its Right of Reply. “In a strongly-worded reply, India said, “The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inalienable part of India. The rules and legislation brought in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are strictly internal affairs of India,” NDTV reported.
Further, Hindustan Times quoting the Indian diplomat, Mijito Vinito, first secretary at the Indian mission to the UN, reported the Indian diplomat saying: “The only dispute left in Kashmir relates to that part of Kashmir that is still under illegal occupation of Pakistan. We call upon Pakistan to vacate all those areas that it is in illegal occupation of.”
“Friday’s anti-India statement made by Pakistan Prime Minister and India’s response makes it India’s third Right of Reply; the first two were also made in response to Pakistan raking up the issue of Jammu and Kashmir during the ongoing 75th UNGA earlier this week,” the report added.
Earlier, in his address via a video link, Imran demanded justice for the Kashmiris and the Palestinians and warned against the increased threat of nuclear war highlighted the threats posed to mankind due to climate change and the rise of authoritarian regimes, saying: “We must come together to prevent such a catastrophe,” the report quoting Pakistan Prime Minister in the newspaper the Tribune.
