Panchayat Elections: Poll-bound areas observe shutdown in Kashmir

Srinagar

A complete shutdown is being observed in the poll-bound areas of Kashmir on Thursday during the fifth phase of Panchayat elections.

Reports said that all shops and other business establishments remained closed in poll-bound areas while public transport remained off the roads.

The poll-bound Langate, Wavoora, Sogam, Aloosa, Zainyeer, Sherabad Khore, Lalpora, Sherpathri, Khag, S.K. Pora, Litter, Tral, K-Ullar, Ramnagri, Frisal, Behibagh, K.Pora, and D. Pora.

JRL asked People to demonstrate their total rejection and disregard of this futile exercise by staying away and boycotting it completely. They said the “sham” elections were being thrust on the people by the “authoritarian state.”
