Naveed Jatt, the operational commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit killed along with his local associate on Wednesday was buried in Rajwar area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday night.
Official sources said that the body of Naveed Jatt was taken by police to Reshwari area of Waderballa in Rajwar, Handwara late Thursday night and was later handed over to the local Auqaf committee who buried him in the midnight. A police officer confirmed that the foreign militant was taken to Reshwari and was buried there.
Jatt was killed along with his local associate Mehraj-Ud-Din Khan of Sopore in a gunfight at Chittergam, Budgam on November 28 (Wednesday). Three soldiers were also injured during the gunfight.
The encounter broke out Wednesday wee hours after police claimed to have launched a cordon following “credible inputs” about the presence of militants in the area.
After Baramulla’s Boniyar and Gantmullah, now it has been witnessed that the foreign militants have been handed over to the local Auqaf committee in Reshwari area of Waderballa, Handwara for burial. (GNS)
