Rs 616 Cr Approved under DDUGJY for 21 Districts of JK, Dy CM says

Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said that RS 616.59 crores under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana Scheme (DDUGJY) has been approved for the 10 districts of Jammu province,9 districts of Kashmir province and 2 districts of Ladakh region.

In a written reply to a question of MLA Pahalgam Altaf Ahmad Wani in a Legislative Assembly, Minister Incharge Power Dr Nirmal Singh said that DPRS under DDUGJY has been prepared for 21 districts of the state.
He said that government of India approved an amount of Rs 616.59 crores for Jammu and Kashmir, vide Communication no.REC/DDUGJY/2015-16/100,dated 28-09-2015.

“DDUGJY is a scheme for strengthening and augmentation of sub-transmission and distribution (ST&D) infrastructure n rural areas, including metering at distribution transformers, feeders and consumer end for electrification of households in rural areas.”

He added that out of 22 districts, 21 districts have been covered under Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.

He said that as per Census 2011, the total number of un-electrified villages in Jammu and Kashmir is 102, out of which 26 un-electrified villages fall in Kashmir region, 58 un-electrified villages in Jammu region and 18 unelectrified villages in Ladakh region.
