AIP protests outside UN Office in Srinagar, Rasheed detained

Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday foiled AIP’s march against the killing of two youth in Shopian at the hands of the army, which started near UN Office and was to be concluded near CM’s residence at Gupkar Srinagar.

The spokesman said that breaking strict restrictions scores of protesters led by AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Rasheed started the march chanting slogans against the killings, seeking revocation of AFSPA, urging UN to wake up and asking Mehbooba Mufti to discharge her duties of protecting life and property of innocent Kashmiris.

The spokesman added that however while the march was proceeding towards Mehbooba Mufti’s residence, a large contingent of police used force to disperse the march and arrested dozens along with Rasheed and lodged them in police station Ram Munshi Bagh Srinagar.

Rasheed said that Mehbooba Mufti has lost the moral authority to rule the state and has surrendered everything to New Delhi.

He said “Not only as Chief Minister but as head of unified command it is her legal duty to deliver justice and arrest the killers without staging dramas of so-called magisterial inquiries. Gen. Bepin Rawat seems to have taken the direct control of dealing with everything related to suppressing the peaceful voice of masses. It is a tragedy that Mehbooba Mufti, Nirmala Sita Raman, and Rajnath Singh have been passing the buck to each other and trying to confuse the masses about what is happening on the ground. Kashmiris reject all magisterial probes and all the killings strengthen the will of Kashmiris to fight for their fundamental right.”

Rasheed appealed world community to wake up and stop India from carrying genocide of Kashmiris. He said, “United Nations and the world community must ask New Delhi not to cover the shameless killings of unarmed protesters by giving false excuses and claiming to be defending itself from the alleged insurgency.”
