Technical Education Department instrumental in addressing unemployment: Ansari

Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Information Technology and Technical Education, Imran Raza Ansari on Monday said Technical Education Department is instrumental in addressing unemployment issues in the State to a great extent.

Ansari was addressing a gathering after launching departmental calendar, Technology news, and promo during a function organized by Directorate of Technical Education department at Jammu University.

Ansari said that Government has already initiated several measures to boost technical education in the state like setting up of ITIs and polytechnic colleges in almost all the parts of the state to enable youth to create self-employment avenues. He said that the department needs to launch a massive campaign to educate the students about job oriented courses initiated by the department. He said that number of pass out students from ITI have succeeded in getting jobs at renowned companies or have established their own units.

The Minister directed the concerned to ensure publishing of quarterly newsletter to inform the students about the courses offered by ITIs. He expressed the hope that this initiative would greatly help the students choose ITI polytechnic courses.

Ansari said that the Government has already initiated several measures to streamline the sector so that youth of the State is provided with requisite technical expertise. He said that the Prime Minister’s initiative of Skill India is a game changer which has ensured that more and more youth get the requisite employment.

The Minister claimed that departmental calendar and Technology news will showcase achievements of the department besides highlighting training courses offered.

Ansari, while discussing possibilities of setting new ITIs across the State, said that Skill Development Mission has been launched in the State with experts already been roped in for skill gap identification and skill mapping, infrastructure and capacity building, skill upgradation and courses for employability and entrepreneurship. He said that Technical Education Department has a big role to play in providing skill development to overcome the problem of unemployment in the State.

Managing Director Power Development Corporation, Shah Faesal, Director Technical Education, Shabnum Shah kamli, faculty members of ITIs and students were also present on the occasion.
