Leopard captured in Doda

Srinagar: A forest department team along with local people on Tuesday captured a leopard after it was found prowling in a populated area of Khara area of district Doda.

Reports said that leopard was on the prowl in Khara ,Tanta ,Malanoo , Gogara belt of forest area since last one month and had attacked several cattles.

An official said that captured leopard is being transported to Kishtwar, from where it will be sent to Manda Zoo in Jammu.

It is pertinent to mention here that, after recent heavy snowfall in higher reaches of district Doda, wild animals, particular leopards are being spotted in several human habitats, triggering fear psychosis among the locals. The department has been receiving frequent complaints about the wildcat attacking their cattle and it is the first catch in Doda this year.
