NIA summon to KU scholar: VC intervenes, writes to Governor, CM, DGP

After the protests at Kashmir University against the summoning of the varsity scholar by Indian federal investigation agency, NIA, refused to die down for the second consecutive day, authorities at the varsity on Wednesday said that they have taken up the matter with the Government.

Talking to Kashmir Life, the Vice Chancellor of the varsity, Khursheed Iqbal Andrabi said that the university has taken up the matter with the Governor, Chief Minister and DGP J&K Police.

Andrabi said, “We have written to Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, and Director General of police (DGP) SP Vaid regarding the matter. We are awaiting the response.”

Earlier massive protests rocked the varsity against the summoning of the varsity scholar, Aala fazili by the investigation agency.

Hundreds of students marched through the campus raising slogans in favour of Aala amd against NIA.

The students were demanding the intervention of Vice Chancellor into the matter and an immediate end to the “unwarranted” questioning of Aala Fazili. They also boycotted the classwork.

The protesting students dispersed only after the Vice Chancellor assured them  that he will take up the matter with authorities.
