Separatist turned unionist, Sajad Gani Lone contesting the upcoming assembly election from Handwara segment has assets worth about Rs 14 crore.
According to the poll affidavit filed by Lone, who recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he has total movable assets worth Rs 13.72 lakh. He owns two cars, a Mahindra Thar worth Rs 7 lakhs and an Echo worth Rs 3.5 lakh.
Lone’s immoveable assets are worth Rs 70.5 lakh. However, his two dependents have immoveable assets worth Rs 6.5 crore each. Lone also has disputed liability with Oriental Bank of Commerce through MMTC of India to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore.
People’s Conference (PC) chairman Sajjad Lone, is contesting his maiden Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir after he took over his late father’s party. His father, late Abdul Gani Lone was assassinated in 2002.
Lone, who unsuccessfully contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Baramulla-Kupwara seat in North Kashmir, has completed his degree in Economics from Cardiff University, UK, in 1989. He was earlier associated with the moderate Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. His elder brother is the executive member of moderate Hurriyat Conference.
