Mehbooba ‘Honored’ will sit in 2nd row of Lok Sabha

According to the seating arrangement in Lok Sabha, released by Speaker office, the president of People’s Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti has been given status of a senior leader. She will be sitting in the second row.Mehbooba-Mufti


In the second row, Mehboobha will be accompanied by Rahul Gandhi (Vice President of Indian National Congress), Kamal Nath (nine time member of Parliament), Congress deputy leader Amrinder Singh, NCP’s Tariq Anwar. But it is for the first time that any MP from J&K will sit in the company of senior leaders.


Mehbooba, born on May 22, 1959, is a law graduate from Kashmir University and is credited to have revived PDP at a time when the political fortunes of the other parties are still on the upswing in the Valley.


Like her father, Mehbooba began her career with the Congress in 1996. However, later she resigned and formed the PDP along with her father. Mehbooba went on enter the Parliament in 2004 to become the youngest woman politician from this state.
