Reacting over the remarks of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kishtwar, Peoples’ Democratic Party Saturday said that after the six decade rule of the Congress and National Conference, people of the state heaved the sigh of relief during PDP’s brief tenure of three years.
“It is unfortunate that the Prime Minister of Country sends out a message that is not based on facts,” PDP chief spokesman Naeem Akhtar told KNS, adding that biggest admirer of the PDP rule in Jammu and Kashmir was the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who hailed the efforts of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in ensuring people in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Vajpayee through the PDP platform in Kashmir reached out to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to the entire sub continent,” Akhtar said, adding that there is no evidence so far that this government from the last six months has followed Vajpayee’s path. “They did the reverse and cancelled foreign secretary level talks without any reason.”
The PDP chief spokesman said that signals are being sent on scrapping the Article 370 and state subject laws which is the question of existence for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
PDP stated that the prime minister cannot equate PDP with NC and Congress and that he cannot brush every party with the same paint. “NC, Congress ruled the state ever since independence. State witnessed PDP tenure for brief spell of three years. During those three years, people breathed fresh air. NC and BJP were in alliance till 2002. It only increased darkness all together with India and Pakistan were on brink of the war,” he added.
