People on Friday apprehended a youth after he threw a hand grenade on a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) election rally which did not explode in Dumhal area of Kulgam district.
Reports said that PDP candidate for Noorabad assembly segment Abdul Majid Paddar, was addressing an election rally at Gundewani, near Dumhal Hanjipora. As he was addressing to his supporters a hand grenade came and fell in between the people creating panic.
On seeing the hand grenade, people immediately identified the person who according to them threw it and overpowered him as he was trying to flee from the scene.
The alleged grenade thrower was handed over to police and immediately shifted to district headquarter.
Police sources confirmed the custody of the alleged grenade thrower and said that he will be questioned thoroughly.
