Hurriyat Conference issues week long calendar

In connection with the fourth martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Wamiq Farooq, Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir held a meeting at its parry headquarters here in Srinagar. Wamiq Farooq was martyred by Indian forces on February 2, 2010.


According to a statement issued to KNS, the speakers while expressing serious grief over the killing of innocent civilians during the public uprising of 2008, 2009 and 2010 paid tributes to all the martyrs. It was pledged that no one will be allowed to play with the sacred blood of these martyrs and the freedom struggle will continue till its logical conclusion.


During the meeting, the leaders while paying glowing tributes to Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru said: “One invoked the spirit of freedom and other filled it with strength and vigour, both are the heroes of freedom struggle.”


It was also held that Hurriyat Conference will hold a seminar on February 6 in connection with demanding the mortal remains of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru. The seminar will be held at Hotel Lala Rukh here in Srinagar. On February 7, Hurriyat will organize a signature campaign at Srinagar’s Pratap Park and has called for complete shutdown and protests on 9th and 11th of this month.


The conglomerate also said that it will pass a memorandum to United Nations Military Observer Group headquarters here at Sonawar, Srinagar. During the meeting, it was also decided that Hurriyat leaders, Farooq Ahmad Dar and Muhammad Yusuf Naqash will visit the residence of Wamiq Farooq.


As the meeting was going on, the news about martyrdom of a youth, Shaheed Ajaz Ahmad Bhat came to fore. He achieved martyrdom in a fierce encounter between forces and mujahedeen in Kangan area of Pulawama. The leaders while paying tributes to the martyr severely condemned the stubborn approach of Indian government vis-à-vis Kashmir issue. The leaders also expressed solidarity with the family of Shaheed Ajaz Bhat.
