IO in Khan’s case transferred, opposition protests in the assembly

KL Report

JAMMU

The Investigating Officer (IO) probing molestation charges against MLA, Rajouri, Shabir Khan has been transferred and the principal opposition PDP strongly protested the move in the legislative assembly on Wednesday.

As the proceedings started in the house PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti raised the issue.

Her party members held protests against the government for “foiling” the investigation in the case by transferring the IO.

The protesting PDP members came into the well of the House seeking reply from the government over the issue and also called for prohibition of the former Minister’s entry into the House till the investigation is on.

They were joined by CPI(M) leader MY Tarigami and Independent member Engineer Rashid in the demand.

Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo defended the transfer of the IO and said that it was a routine matter.

However, the protesting members were not satisfied and they staged walkout from the House as a mark of protest.

Speaking to media, Mehbooba said that it is ridiculous on the part of the government to transfer the IO.
