Man arrested for stabbing ice-cream vendor in Srinagar

Police Station Maisuma arrested an assailant, who attacked and injured an ice-cream vendor near Ghanta Ghar in Srinagar.

Yesterday, Police Station Maisuma received a distress call that an ice cream vendor near Ghanta Ghar was attacked by an unknown assailant with a sharp-edged weapon and is bleeding on the spot. Responding swiftly, a Quick Response Team, from Police Station Maisuma reached the spot and shifted the injured person identified as Asif Ahmad Mir resident of Kupwara to hospital.

Consequently, a case FIR No. 13/19 under relevant sections of law was registered and an investigation was initiated in the matter.

During the course of investigation, it was learnt that accused identified as Burhan Ahmad Wani, son of Khazir Mohammad Wani, a resident of Maisum at present Maloora HMT, had fled from the spot after committing the crime.

The accused was tracked by police and was taken into custody a weapon of the offence was also recovered. He has been charged for attempt to murder and remains in custody, the police spokesman said.
