In the backdrop of an encounter in Bagender Bejbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, mobile internet services were suspended in the district for “precautionary measures”.
An official said that the service was suspended to “prevent law and order situation” following an encounter in the district.
Earlier, two militants were killed after a fierce gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Bagender Mohalla of Bijbehara on Thursday early morning.
However, the identity and affiliation of the slain militants are yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, Police have requested the people not to venture inside the encounter zone since such area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any.
