Civilian killings in Kashmir worsens situation further: Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar

Expressing concern over the deteriorating situation in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference president and former chief minister of J&K Farooq Abdullah said that the turmoil which is currently going on in the valley doesn’t seem to end, as talks with neighbouring countries are the only solution to prevail peace in the state.

On Friday, Abdullah was speaking at Lok Saba during the debate and discussion on the statutory resolution for the proclamation of President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir. He also questioned about the Governor’s decision to dissolve the state assembly.

Reacting to the recent fax machine controversy, which ultimately ended with the dissolution of state’s legislative assembly, Abdullah said that it was not Governor’s House to prove majority but the assembly was but the Governor didn’t wait and dissolved it.

In order to bring peace in the state, Abdullah also suggested a dialogue with Pakistan and stoppage of civilian killings in the valley as it worsens the situation further.
