Clear overnight sky and chilly winds sweeping plains further plunged night temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir, where people are reeling under the severe cold wave.
The severity of cold is felt much in Ladakh region as Kargil and Leh recorded a minimum temperature of minus 15.4 and minus 11.6 degrees Celsius, respectively, met office said.
It attributed the fresh cold wave to the clear sky and chilly winds sweeping the plains. the clear sky was expected to further dip the minimum temperatures throughout the state on Wednesday and Thursday, they said.
Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, recorded a low of minus 2.6, Pahalgam minus 4.9 and Gulmarg minus 4.4 degrees Celsius.
Jammu recorded a low of 7.4, Katra 8.3, Batote 7.2, Bannihil 6.3, Bhaderwah 2.9 and Udhampur 5.4 degrees Celsius. (Kashmir Wire)
