SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Alliance (JKTA) has re-elected Manzoor Ahmad Pakthoon as its Chairmanan for the second term 2017-19.
In its 14th Annual General Meeting held at Hotel New Park, Hilal Ahmad Dar was elected as Deputy Chairman, Tanveer Dar as Secretary General, and Noor Muhammad Shangloo as Treasurer. Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah who was the chief guest on the occasion.
Insisting that more promotional campaigns will be launched to promote tourism, Shah assured the gathering that the problems the tourists face at Gulmarg and Sonamarg on account of some service providers will be rectified. He urged the travel and hospitality industry to be pro-active and join hands with the tourism department in the furtherance of tourism promotion, a statement issued by the JKTA said.
Director Tourism Kashmir also said the tourists have started coming back as many leading travel agents are currently in the Valley on FAM tour.
Chairman Manzoor Pakthoon in his welcome address regretted the negative perception created by some of the TV channels among travellers. He hailed tourism department’s social media campaign which has received overwhelming response from the travellers. “The videos of the tourists describing their memorable visits in Kashmir have helped to a greater extent dilute negative perception,” he said.
