So, after Adnan Sami, Lucky Ali is going to enthrall music lovers on the banks of Dal Lake. This time, the event is hosted by Srinagar-based Army’s Chinar Corps and celebrated as Youth Mela is said to be an initiative to encourage youth to plan their future and choose a path to redeem their dreams. The Mela will include singing, painting and group dance competitions.
GUREZ
Silently, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Gurez. Accompanied by army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Modi celebrated Diwali with soldiers. He celebrated Diwali on Siachen glacier in 2014, in Amritsar at Dogra war memorial in 2014 and in 2016; he celebrated it with ITBP personnel in Himachal. Interestingly, however, the Grez visit did not see any presence of state government. A minister said even the Raj Bhawan was not invited. However, Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti flew to celebrate the festival of lights in an R S Pora orphanage.

In the Police Diwali Mela organised by J&K Police, the J&K Bank unveiled its Phone Pe Loan, a specially customized App Based loan facility through J&K Bank Mobile Banking App mPay for the J&K Police Personnel in Jammu. Now, JKP personnel don’t have to visit their bank branches to avail the facilities of loan but they can get it in a simple click on their mobile phones.
ISLAMABAD
The frequency with which the elusive braid choppers are appearing, left, right, centre, it is creating a crisis. Now even guns are opening up. At least in two incidents forces showered bullets that left five civilians injured in Wulerhama, Kulgam and Rainawari. In all incidents, they were chasing the “braid choppers”. Five civilians were injured in Wulerhama. In Rainawari, minor son of auto driver, Wahid Manzoor, 18, sustained serious pellet injuries on his body, including his right eye, on October 13. The doctors have declared his right eye as dead.
KARGIL
Three Kargil soldiers: Sajjad Hussain (Thasgam Drass), Maznoor Hussain (Drass) and Mustafa Hussain (Gongma Kargil), conquered Ladakh’s highest peak Stok Kangri (6121mtr) in nine days. After reaching the peak, second highest peak in Ladakh region after Nun Kun, they flared the flag of Hazrat Imam Hussain, national flag and the flag of their regiment.

The video showing a police man being tied to a chair and being slapped by a girl and thrashed by the locals has gone viral. He was accused of clicking pictures of the girl, a student. The cop has been arrested by the local police.

In a rare show of compassion and courtesy, body of Salima Begum, who died in Pakistan administered Kashmir was allowed quick transfer to Kashmir within 12 hours of her death. A resident of Sopore, Salima had gone to PaK along with her husband to condole the death of her brother-in-law, Khawaja Muhammad Yousuf Zargar—once a key leader of a pro-independence Kashmiri political outfit, via Chakothi-Uri crossing point. She died there.
